Our one-day event in Oxford is starting to shape up very nicely indeed!
The programme will include two guest speakers and two panel discussions.
- We’re delighted to announce that our keynote speaker is the charming Charlie Cochrane.
- The other speaker has yet to be finalised – but we can promise you something a little bit different!
- We haven’t quite narrowed down the topics, but our panels will discuss two of the following three potential subjects:
- Clichés and how to avoid them
- Sex scenes, more or less
- Female authors and male pseudonyms
- To help keep us all on topic, the marvellous Liam Livings is our MC for the day – and no doubt he will be sporting a particularly colourful jacket.
We’ll keep you informed about our plans as they firm up.
Please come and join us if you can! Our current registrations include: Julie Bozza, Morgan Cheshire, Charlie Cochrane, Elin Gregory, Sandra Lindsey, Liam Livings, Clare London, Heloise Mezen, Fiona Pickles, and Chris Quinton!
Drop by the website and register just as soon as you can!
A brief post to announce that registrations for the Queer Company are now open!

Thank you again to everyone who took part in our Valentine’s Day giveaway. Our last winner for this particular round was Loren, who asked for a copy of Liz Powell’s HUNTED. Your book will be winging its way to you shortly, Loren, and we hope you’ll enjoy reading it.
Also, don’t forget that registrations go live at noon tomorrow, Sunday 22 February, for our event in Oxford on 9 May entitled Queer Company! We’re looking forward to it immensely, and hoping to have a chance to put faces to some familiar names; many of our authors will be in attendance, too, so if you’d like to meet them this would be an ideal opportunity.
Meanwhile, watch this space for further announcements – we’ve always got something new and intriguing in the works, and this is the place where you’ll find out about it first!
We are so very proud to announce that A PRIDE OF POPPIES, our WWI anthology, will be released on 1 May, with a formal launch at the Queer Company event in Oxford on 9 May.
In the normal course of events, we would wait until April to announce the details and reveal the cover. This title, however, seems to demand a little more attention. And so in this post we are revealing the authors, the cover, and the charity to which all proceeds will be donated.
And so, with no further ado …
A PRIDE OF POPPIES features thirteen stories by ten terrific authors, including a few of the Press’s stalwarts, and many who are new to the Press. A more enthusiastic, professional and talented bunch, our editor couldn’t have wished for … (Oh, and she penned something for it, too.)
Our authors are:
- Julie Bozza
- Barry Brennessel
- Charlie Cochrane
- Sam Evans
- Lou Faulkner
- Adam Fitzroy
- Wendy C. Fries
- Z. McAspurren
- Eleanor Musgrove
- Jay Lewis Taylor
The cover is a particularly lovely riff on the distinctive Manifold Press style.
And we are deeply honoured to announce that all proceeds will be going to THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION, home of The Poppy Appeal. It seemed clear from the start that this anthology must be a charitable concern, and it also seemed clear that the Legion must be our first choice of charity. We have rarely been prouder than when the Legion agreed.
You’ll be hearing from us again with more details between now and May. We will make the books available for pre-order as soon as possible. In the meantime, thank you very kindly indeed for your interest! We hope that our readers will be happy to support a worthy cause, and to receive something entertaining and thought-provoking in return.
Reading, writing and publishing are fulfilling occupations in themselves, but we also feel very lucky to be working in this particular genre – not least because of the wonderful sense of community. To celebrate our excellent friendships – and in the hope of making even more – Manifold Press is delighted to be hosting a new UK-based event.
Queer Company will be a small, friendly gathering designed to engage and inspire. This one-day event is planned for Saturday 9 May 2015 at The Jam Factory in Oxford.
We hope this gathering will be the first of many, with annual events complementing the wonderful work done by UK Gay Romance and UK Meet.
The timing this year coincides with Manifold Press’s fifth anniversary – we’re proud and rather astonished to reflect that our first titles were released on 1 May 2010. We will also be taking the opportunity to formally launch our new anthology A Pride of Poppies, featuring modern GLBTQI fiction of the Great War, all the proceeds of which will be donated to charity.
If you’d like to join us…
There is more detailed information available on the Manifold Events website.
Registrations will open at 12.00 midday on Sunday 22 February.
Please note that, due to the nature of the event, we can accommodate no more than 50 people attending. We hope there won’t be too many of you disappointed, but we are expecting the registrations to be filled quite quickly. We will maintain a waiting list if necessary.
Thank you for your interest. We’re looking forward to enjoying your company!
