Greetings – and a Happy New Year to all our loyal customers, friends and supporters! It’s now time to tell you about our two new forthcoming titles, which will be available to buy from 1 February.
Jane Elliot continues the saga of Jasper and Brian (from her immensely popular ABOVE ALL) in THIS MEANS WAR. Just because they’ve settled into their relationship doesn’t mean that their lives are any calmer – as this amusing tale of a prank war gone wrong abundantly demonstrates!
Alongside this we are delighted to have Adam Fitzroy with THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER WYE; Rupert, returning after a three-year exile, finds himself caught up in mysterious events occurring at his friend Jake’s struggling organic farm – events which may extend as far as murder!
Our two previous titles, Julie Bozza’s OF DREAMS AND CEREMONIES and Chris Quinton’s GAME ON, GAME OVER will shortly be available from our partner sites for those of you who prefer to obtain them that way. Meanwhile we’d also like to remind you that our Twelve Days of Christmas giveaway will continue on LiveJournal until 6 January.
Thank you once again to everyone who entered; today’s winner is Louise, who has asked for Julie Bozza’s THE APOTHECARY’S GARDEN – it’ll be on its way to you soon, Louise.
The Seventh Day of Christmas draw will be opening shortly, and we look forward to seeing many of you over there. Meanwhile, this would seem like a very good moment to wish all our friends, new and old, a very happy, peaceful and prosperous 2014 – during which we hope to bring you many more new titles for your entertainment!
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM MANIFOLD PRESS!
Merry everything, dear readers – and thank you for your continued support and encouragement, which we value highly!
We’re working away steadily on two new titles for publication on 1 February, details of which will be announced on 1 January as usual, but in the meantime we’ve got a small festive treat lined up for you. Starting on 26 December and for 12 days thereafter we’ll be giving away one free book per day; the rules are simple – we’ll ask you to send us your e-mail address and choice of one of our present titles and preferred format in a screened reply, and at 8 p.m. each day (UK time) we’ll draw a winner at random. You may enter once per day for as many days as you like, but anybody who wins twice will be disqualified thereafter. This giveaway is only here on LiveJournal, not on our associated blog.
So please come on in and join us; it’s a great chance to experiment with a new Manifold Press title or author, or to complete the backlist of one of your favourites!
And to everyone who is celebrating at this time of year – and also to everyone who isn’t – we send the warmest wishes and appreciation of everyone here at Manifold Press; this wouldn’t be at all worth doing without you, and we’re very glad to have you along for the ride!
In honour of the occasion, we are delighted to announce that eight of our titles are now available on Amazon for Kindle: they are Julie Bozza’s THE DEFINITIVE ALBERT J. STERNE; ALBERT J. STERNE: FUTURE BRIGHT, PAST IMPERFECT; HOMOSAPIEN; THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH and of course BUTTERFLY HUNTER, as well as R.A. Padmos’s RAVAGES, Chris Quinton’s ALOES and Adam Fitzroy’s DEAR MISTER PRESIDENT. This is the start of a rolling programme of Kindle launches which will take place over the next few months; we’ll keep you fully updated with the details.
There are now ‘Amazon Kindle buy links’ on the relevant pages on the website, but these will take you to Amazon.co.uk; we’re sure those of you in the rest of the world will figure it out, however!
At the same time, we are also happy to announce price reductions across the board for those of you who prefer to buy in dollars from our distribution partner websites. These have been occasioned by currency fluctuations over the past year or so. Our plan is to stay in closer touch with the exchange rates in future, and to implement further price changes as and when the situation warrants.
And we are, as usual, up well before the lark (we suspect they’re hibernating!) to bring you news of our two new titles, scheduled to be published on 1 February 2013!
Those of you who have been following Chris Quinton’s Fool’s Odyssey Trilogy from the beginning will no doubt be delighted to learn that the final book in the series will shortly be available; FOOL’S RUSH concludes the saga of Andreas, Xavi, their friends in the vampire community, and the mysterious cache of gold discovered in the church vault.
Alongside it, we have another new offering from Adam Fitzroy. BETWEEN NOW AND THEN is the strange tale of what happens when two men who really don’t like each other accidentally become involved in the unfinished romance of two men who did; it leaves them questioning everything they thought they knew for sure!
We’ve had a few technical difficulties this time around, which is why we’re unable to announce price, word- or page-count details for Adam’s book or page-count for Chris’s. We expect Chris’s book to be roughly 170 pages in its finished form, but at the moment we’re not sure whether Adam’s book will fall into the ‘under 45,000 words’ or ‘over 45,000 words’ category (which will of course determine the price) and therefore we’ve tagged it with both for the time being; we hope you won’t find this too confusing.
To conclude with the usual statistical information, the best-seller through our website this month was Jane’s THE DEVIL IN DEAD HORSE, with Julie’s BUTTERFLY HUNTER once again being the highest-selling title with our distribution partners. Average response time for orders filled through our website was five hours and 15 minutes.
We’re delighted to announce our first two titles for 2012!
ALBERT J. STERNE: FUTURE BRIGHT, PAST IMPERFECT by Julie Bozza
Three young boys on a collision course: Albert Sterne – isolated, driven and fiercely intellectual; Fletcher Ash – bright, dedicated and with a strong sense of justice; John Garrett – hurt, marginalised and determined to do to the world exactly what the world has done to him. The eleven short stories in this companion volume continue and expand on the lives of the characters from the same author’s outstandingly popular THE DEFINITIVE ALBERT J. STERNE, which should preferably be read first.
FOX HUNT by Chris Quinton
Robert Rees, full-time librarian, part-time art restorer, is called in to finish a commission when his father goes into hospital – a pair of Elizabethan portraits on oak panelling, Adam Courtney and Ann Darcy. Trouble is, there’s more interest in the paintings than Rob ever bargained for; a lot of people want to get their hands on such priceless treasures, and they’re not always particular about their methods. Just as well he’s got his brother’s mysterious friend Fox on hand to look out for him, then, isn’t it? Or, for that matter … is it?
These will be available to purchase through our online shop from 1 February, and we hope you will enjoy reading them every bit as much as we have!
Average response time this week was seventeen hours and five minutes. This was due to a query arising on an order which delayed the possibility of completing it. I e-mailed the customer to ask for clarification, and when it was not received I went ahead and sent her what she’d asked for anyway. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow!
However, it isn’t just ‘Saturday’ today as you will probably have noticed already, so from all of us here at Manifold Press:
AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2011.
